The flame spray gun is a thermal spraying method that utilizes an oxygen-fuel gas flash as a heat reservoir for melting the wire (coating material). Here, Compressed air is utilized for atomizing and pushing the material to the workpiece. The purpose of flame spraying utilizing wire is known as wire flame spraying.
Flame spray guns are essential devices used in the thermal spraying process, which involves the deposition of fine molten particles onto a surface to create a coating. This technique is widely employed for enhancing surface properties such as wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and thermal insulation. The flame spray process is highly versatile, allowing the use of a wide range of materials including metals, ceramics, and polymers.
This process includes: When the material is inserted in a gun and nozzle and gets melted in the oxygen fuel gas flame. An air jet from the gun propels the atomized particles to the workpiece. When the wire is utilized for a surfacing substance, it is filled into the nozzle by an air-driven wire feeder and gets melted in the gas flame.
Working of the 12M is simple and begins by pushing the metalizing wire in the gun, burning the fuel gas, and activating the quick-action wire grip to feed the wire into the Flame. It terminates by simply pushing the wire grip control. The unique siphon plug and universal gas head design allow the 12M to produce high spray rates with minimal gas consumption. The design is also very resistant to 12M guns and is supplied with standard drive rolls and gears, which are suitable for use with “hard” wires. The 12M-Hand 12M-HT guns, configured to spray soft wires, come equipped with a special non-load air cap as well as a high-speed turbine shaft and countershaft gears.
All 12M and 12M-H guns are factory-configured for acetylene as the fuel gas, while the 12M-P gun is configured for use with propane and the 12M-HT for propylene and propane fuel gases. However, by considering optional hardware, the universal gas head design can be adapted to use other fuel gases, such as acetylene, hydrogen, propane, natural gas, MAPP, or MPS.
Surface Coating and Protection: Flame spray guns are extensively used for surface coating and protection across various industries. They are ideal for applying corrosion-resistant coatings on steel structures, enhancing the lifespan of machinery parts, and providing thermal barriers on engine components.
Repair and Maintenance: In addition to coating new parts, powder flame spray guns are also employed in the repair and maintenance of worn or damaged components. This process, known as thermal spray repair, can restore the original dimensions and performance characteristics of parts, reducing downtime and cost.
Manufacturing and Fabrication: Flame spray technology plays a critical role in the manufacturing and fabrication of products that require specific surface properties. Industries such as aerospace, automotive, and electronics rely on flame spray coatings to improve the functionality and performance of their products.
